Montserrat Redesign

College Project // Logo Design // Website Design

Project Description

8/27/2024 - 9/12/2024

This project demonstrates the application of integrated branding to create a cohesive digital and print-based promotional campaign for a lesser-known country. Using data provided by Datapandas, the campaign highlights the country's unique characteristics, its people, and cultural nuances, positioning these as key selling points.

The campaign incorporates strategic branding, typographic design, and visual storytelling to craft a compelling narrative. A custom or modified font system is developed to represent the country’s name, ensuring that every design element aligns seamlessly with the established brand identity. This approach showcases a thoughtful and innovative solution for promoting the location to a global audience.

Introduction

To begin this project, I conducted in-depth research on the history of Montserrat, exploring its culture, landmarks, and existing tourism efforts. This research guided me to the official tourism website, where I analyzed its branding and identified opportunities for improvement. Drawing from my findings, I updated Montserrat's logo to better reflect the island's unique identity and appeal. Building on the refreshed branding, I redesigned the website to create a more engaging and user-friendly experience for potential travelers. Additionally, I designed a travel brochure, ensuring all project deliverables were met while maintaining a cohesive visual identity across platforms. This process highlights my ability to integrate research, design, and branding into a unified promotional campaign.

Design Process:

The goal of this redesign was to reflect the unique charm of the "Emerald Isle of the Caribbean." The original logo colors—green, blue, and orange—represented the island’s landscapes, sea activities, and land attractions. I kept these colors to honor the original design while giving them new significance.

Through my research, I found that the island hosts four key festivals, one for each season. I reimagined the colors to represent these festivals, connecting the brand more deeply to the island’s vibrant culture and year-round celebrations.

This redesign blends tradition with a fresh perspective, showcasing the island’s beauty and energy.
